Costuming 2 & Southern Fashion Update

Sewing
It's been just over a month into my Costuming 2 class and... it's been crazy! This weekend alone I'm supposed to make 16 bodice patterns from scratch and one muslin. So far, I've spent 2 hours and made one. :/

BUT! I'm learning TONS! I'm not sure how to apply it unless I'm making clothes from scratch, but it's been a wild ride. Very cool.

Fashion
Along with the roller coaster costuming class, this weather has been its own roller coaster ride. Unfortunately, it's mostly been stormy or hot and humid. So there's no fall fashion forecast in sight.

Though I was asked today: "Did you hear about this weekend? It's supposed to get cold... 70 degrees!" That should give you an idea of what it's been like here. Ha.

Hope you all have been wearing your new fall wardrobes for me! More later.

Happy National Sewing Month!

Happy National Sewing Month to all! It's been 29 years since Ronald Reagan first honored this very important craft. So (no pun intended), we should all get to sewing!
Obviously, I need to make something to celebrate this sewing (and my birthday!) month. And what better theme for my first celebrated National Sewing Month, than "Sew for the LOVE of it!"? I'll keep you posted on what I make. :)

Photo Fun

If you're also really into photography, check out Kristen Duke's blog. She's recently been featuring other bloggers and how they like to decorate with photos.
One of my favorite ideas from eighteen25 on KD Photography.
Centsational Girl's beautiful display. I think my Southern Protocol bosses would die.

Classy Camera Carries!

I was scrolling my way through the latest post on House of Smiths when I saw that mama has a brand new bag. And it is cute! I've always hated carrying around my cameras because of the ugly, bulky bags necessitated to maintain them and FINALLY someone has made fashion-friendly alternatives! Check out some of Jo Totes's bags below.

I personally love Ms. Smith's new Betsy bag in Mustard. Since I bought a mustard leather purse from Aldo this past spring, I have been in love with the color. Maybe I'll redesign Sew That's How in cobalt and mustard with white? See, it looks good on this girl on Lookbook! Thoughts?
Doesn't it look very Mad Men? I love this purse!!!

I also LOVE these wallets in orange and blue, and I'm in the market for a new one! Think I can get Aldo to sponsor me?

Living room makeover!

Hi all! Check out what I did tonight!

I took a really pretty summer table cloth from Target and hand-sewed some corners into it so it would cover my messy bookcases. Simple! I didn't cut anything out of the fabric, though, in case I want to use it to cover more space in the future! Whaddya think?
And don't you just love these frames I got at The RSVP Shoppe on Broad? ONLY $12 EACH!!!

VS's Hypnotic make-up is sure to hypnotize

Victoria Secret has launched a small collection of lipstick, eyeliner, blush/highlighter and eyeshadow in a pretty palette.  Aside from the pretty pinks and purples featured in this collection, the cases may actually steal the show.  Decorated in geometric shapes of pink-and-orange or purple-and-blue, outlined in gold, the cases are worth showing off.  I certainly hope they continue the collection and even make the palettes interchangeable.
